Description of the Nicholas silver rouble coin.
The central part of the obverse of the coin depicts the profile relief of Emperor Nicholas II. The face of the royal person looks to the left. This portrait was made by Anton Vasyutinsky, the most famous carver of that time.
Vasyutinskin lived at the turn of the eras. He was the last to create portraits of the last Russian tsar, and the first artist of the young Soviet republic. His creation is the first coin of the Soviet republic - the golden chervonets. Vasyutinskin created the Order of Lenin, and the ГТО badge.
Along the circumference along the front line the inscriptions - "Б. М. НИКОЛАЙ II" (left), and "И САМОДЕРЖЕЦЪ ВСЕРОСС." (on right).
Along the edge of the coin, around the portrait, there are two inscriptions:
Left: “Б.М. НИКОЛАЙ II ИМЕРАТОРЪ",
Right "И САМОДЕРЖЕЦЪ ВСЕРОСС."
The reverse of this coin bears the small coat of arms of the Russia Empire. The two-headed eagle has a crown on each head. The third crown crowns both the first ones. The Eagle holds the Scepter and Orb in its paws.
On the chest of the eagle there is a shield on which Gregory the Victorious is depicted. This image of the coat of arms is the work of Fadeev, which was approved on December 8, 1856.
The eagle's wings are small shields with the coats of arms of the provinces that are subordinate to the Russia Empire. Under the coat of arms the face value of the coin is minted in large capital letters: "РУБЛЬ", next to the year of issue of the coin: "1900". Between these inscriptions there is a curly star that resembles a flower with five petals.
Along the rim of the rouble, along the circumference, the inscription is minted by indentation: "ЧИСТАГО СЕРЕБРА 4 ЗОЛОТNИКА 21 ДОЛЯ" In addition, there is the sign of the mintzmeister in brackets: (Ф · З). This means: Felix Zalemn, St. Petersburg Mint.
This silver rouble had a lot of coin defects. At our auction, it happens that Nicholas roubles which have a misaligned position of the obverse relative to the reverse, the absence of some elements of images, some coins do not have a rim inscription are exhibited.
Of course, such errors are quite rare, and therefore price of such coins can increase significantly.

Silver roubles were minted from 1895 to 1915, during the reign of Emperor Nicholas II.
This silver rouble was put into circulation in 1900 in a huge amount.
And since it was in active circulation for a long time, not that in excellent, but also in good condition, even among collectors it is extremely rare.
That is why the cost of the Nicholas rouble in perfect condition, which has come down to our days, sometimes exceeds the price of a golden chervonets.
Various collectors have Nicholas roubles of the late 19th century in large quantities, but they are not of particular value. Therefore, their selling price is slightly higher than the value of the silver from which they are minted. And this is only 18 grams of pure silver. So count how much such coins cost based on the price per gram of silver multiplied by 18.
